The NISG 2026 obliges essential and important entities to take comprehensive risk management measures. Those measures explicitly include the security of the supply chain, covering the security-related aspects of the relationship with each direct supplier and service provider. In practice that means every external service processing operational data has to be assessed, bound by contract and monitored on an ongoing basis – and management is accountable for those measures. An AI system running on your own infrastructure does not enter that assessment as an external dependency at all: there is no vendor for data to flow to.
